An African Adventure

One of my favorite things about designing tailor-made travel is the relationships formed throughout the process. I have to tell you that I treasure these long-lasting relationships, as I have the most exceptional clients.

Robert and Heath London are prime examples of this. Robert is a retired investment banker, and Heath is a Santa Barbara based, awarding-winning jewelry designer. Her work is exquisite!  They are both seasoned travelers, and Africa is a favorite and frequently traveled destination.

It was a joy to work with the Londons to design their latest trek to the place that has their heart. This time, they traveled to South Africa, and Zambia.  Among the amazing experiences and properties they were guests at, they also had an exclusive invitation to stay at a friend’s private lodge.

It’s so incredible to receive photos and videos from clients while traveling. You feel like you’re not so far removed from the experience that you helped create around the client’s vision. It is truly rewarding! Robert and Heath captured outstanding photos and video of their time in Africa and shared it with me. Enjoy these stunning images of their African adventure.

High end luggage can improve your travel experience. These hard-shell rollers are not inexpensive (starting at around $700), but they are highly durable and secure. Two Bahamas luxury resorts you will love

blog-bahamas-4

Paradise Island, Bahamas

I watched from the airplane window as the ocean transformed from a deep grayish-blue, to a vivid turquoise. This was my introduction to Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Serenity and beauty at The Cove

What a treat it was to spend time at two incredible Bahamas luxury resorts! First, I had the pleasure of enjoying The Cove. What I found most appealing is that you are in Atlantis, but tucked quietly in your own serene space. It is a beautiful property, with the friendliest staff. I’d recommend this more for adults, as there is a private, adult-only pool on the property — Cain.

The Reef: Wonderful views and excellent for families

However, families are well suited here too, but The Reef next door seems more fitting, with its condo-style accommodations. I had the opportunity to do a site inspection of The Reef as well, and it has arguably one of the best views of the Caribbean in its deluxe suite and penthouse. Director of Sales, Amy Mencl, was my amazing host, and she is just lovely.

The Ocean Club is a private oasis

Finally, I stayed at the One & Only Ocean Club. This gorgeous property is not part of Atlantis, and on the other end of Paradise Island, away from everything. You feel as though you’re in your own private oasis. The grounds are a mature and lush tropical paradise; It is quite a site to see!

General Manager, John Conway, greeted me on the front porch as my driver dropped me off for my stay. He is one of the kindest individuals in the business, and I really enjoyed getting to know him over delicious lunch at Dune; A Jean-Georges restaurant on the property.

I had the most exquisite spa experience, complete with a Balinese-style treatment villa; furnished with teak massage tables, a waterfall shower, and day bed and jetted tub in my own private open-air garden. Prince and Cornesha were my butlers, and they couldn’t have been more amazing! The entire staff at One & Only Ocean Club works with excellence. They offer superior service that is quite impressive. This is the perfect property for adults and couples wanting the most upscale experience in the Bahamas. However, they do have a kids club, which is nice for families traveling to Paradise Island. If you are looking for a Bahamas luxury resort, this is one that you won’t want to miss! I look forward to returning to the Bahamas soon!

ILTM Cannes

ILTM Cannes

I arrived via helicopter into Cannes from Nice airport

It was a lovely view of the coast, and a quick ride into the area. I was honored to be a part of the invitation-only ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) Cannes, the flagship event in luxury travel. This gathering of the world’s finest suppliers with the most elite travel advisors is held at Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, on Boulevard de la Croisette. Connections are made and relationships strengthened, as each day is filled with pre-scheduled appointments. This is key in staying up to date and connected to luxury travel experiences for my clients. It was a wonderful event, and I look forward to the next one in December.

A few stops before ILTM Cannes

I spent a few days in Paris, Provence, and Barcelona before attending ILTM Cannes. Paris was just wonderful. Alexandre Michaud, Director of Sales at the Mandarin Oriental Paris, took me on a site tour of this amazing property. It truly is a work of art, and a must see/stay/dine when you visit Paris.

I stayed at Terre Blanche in Provence. This property is a charming, countryside escape with the most incredible views of the nearby villages. Rachel David, Director of Sales & Marketing, was my hostess. She was so generous with her time. I enjoyed learning more about her and Terre Blanche over dinner. I spent most of my time at the spa, where I got to experience several luxurious treatments. I left feeling refreshed and renewed.

Finally, I traveled to Barcelona, where I was hosted by Verónica Rodríguez, Marketing Director for Barcelona Tourism. I quickly fell in love with Spanish cuisine and the people of Barcelona. I so admire the pride that they have for their city. In three days, I got a thorough look at this destination, rich in culture, art, architecture, and history.
